Is it cold there? The Sunshine Coast is a western temperate, so close to Vancouver for weather. Most of the population is located close to sea level so we rarely see freezing or snow. Mt. Elphinstone is colder, wetter and snowier for weather, mainly affecting Port Mellon and Dakota Ridge. Pender Harbour areas away from sea level also sees cooler temperatures and more precipitation in winter months. Summer average temperatures (all celsius) are between 15-30 degrees; winter temps average -2 to +10 degrees.
Can I come there by car?
Of course! The Sunshine Coast is serviced by BC Ferries with regular vehicle traffic right up to semis and long haul trucks.
What if I don't have a car?
There is public transit available to BC Ferry terminals in Horseshoe Bay, Langdale, Comox and Powell River/Comox. Rural transit is available to the Saltery Bay terminal on the Powell River side. For travel to the Egmont ferry terminal, and direct through bus transit, Malaspina Coach Lines is the way to go.
