"The world needs ten million full-time, thinking loafers dedicated to the purpose of bringing this cockeyed life back to its normal balance." –‘Mac’ MacDonald, Princess Louisa Inlet, circa 1927.

View of the Resort from the water
Northwest of Sechelt is a land where time slows into a summery march of blossoms, ocean tang, and whispered memory of pioneers and eccentrics, calling to the soul to meander… to relinquish the grip of the city pace in a spirit of old-fashioned ‘vacationing’. That land is Pender Harbour.
Long an attractant to a wide milieu of characters - from bushwacking adventurers and strong-backed builders to a lady writer with trunks laden with evening dresses and a doomed love affair with an English poet, or an Austrian aristocrat living, penniless, with an invalid husband on the mud flats of Oyster Bay – Pender Harbour offers one of the most accessible and beautiful rural vacation experiences in Coastal British Columbia today.
That spirit of resilience and capacity to envision the future is nowhere more in evidence than the Sunshine Coast Resort. Reclaimed from the hillside’s one-time squatters approximately 20 years ago - the once-dumping ground of everything not natural (tires, paint cans, burned out cars) - has been, under Ralph & Silke Linmann’s hands, transformed into a world-class vacation destination. The summer apartments, motel units and full service marina have been expanded to include a luxury hotel with a mix of standard hotel rooms, suites and the stunning penthouse suite with central stone fireplace and a private deck view of some of the most beautiful sunsets on the West Coast.
How can the Sunshine Coast Resort top this kind of luxurious elegance on the bird’s eye view hillside overlooking Mount Daniel and the myriad coves of Pender?
By building three matchless vacation chalets with private views, individual outdoor hot tubs, vaulted ceiling interiors with the most luxurious interior finishing and furniture, high-definition television and other amenities expected by travelers looking for 4 & 5 star accommodation. in-room spas with steam shower, rain forest shower, whirlpool, sauna, in-bath TV, towel warmers, granite etc. Each chalet will feature a private hot tub on 650 sq. ft. deck plus BBQ, inside it features a double sided stone fireplace, LCD TV's in four locations, 1.100 sq. ft. of living space on two open levels and the best location in the Harbour for beginning your explorations.
The Chalets are designed through height and placement to provide unique and private views of the Harbour. Roads and rooftops of other buildings will be screened by large decks with private hot tubs, giving guests the feeling of relaxation and solitude while still providing ready access to the other amenities of the Resort – the large marina, ferry pickup for tours or quaint transportation across the Harbour for dinner, and the decks and water sport entertainment.
"When guests can run across to the Garden Bay Hotel for dinner and top off their day with a waterfront meal and a slow trip back across the harbour under the stars, you've created an unforgettable experience," says owner Ralph Linnman.
The entire hotel now offers wireless Internet access, so you can bring your laptop, and change the view to suit your mood while you work. The entire resort is on wireless, so you can work anywhere you can open your laptop!
A total of ten units make up the hotel accommodation: Four high quality hotel rooms, five one-bedroom units, and a two-bedroom penthouse with private entrance on the top floor, commanding sweeping views of the Harbour. At night Penthouse guests can turn on the indirect lighting and enjoy the skylights and large windows that invite the Western sky into the suite.

Rooms are luxuriously appointed - Penthouse Suite
All units are designed for total privacy - no guest can see into units below, above or beside - and they range from standard-sized hotel rooms to 700 sq. ft. for the one bedroom units, and 900 sq. ft. for the Penthouse.
Every suite boasts a stone-fronted gas fireplace - double-sided in the Penthouse - that create the sense of coastal ambience that is sure to attract guests year-round. The units are filled with high-end furnishings, including dishwasher-equipped kitchens, and have large decks facing the water. Every bathroom has a jetted soaker tub (double sized romance tub in the Penthouse), and the certified fully-wheelchair-accessible hotel unit even has a wheelchair accessible shower.

Views of the Harbour from every room
Both inside and out no expense was spared to capture the feel of a world-class resort. The windows throughout the Lodge are wood-framed with West Coast cedar, the building's roof is crafted of Red Cedar shingling, and cabinetry and finishing materials are all of the highest quality. Patio units include BBQs and comfortable seating is provided for the decks.
"People underestimate the seriousness of the hospitality industry approach from the European perspective," Ralph says of his background in Germany. "In Europe, hospitality is not just a business - it is a culture in itself, thousands of years old, and steeped in the finest traditions of customer service."
"We are working hard to separate ourselves from our competition through quality and action - and it is all driven by the guests… basically our whole purpose is to do whatever the guest wants and satisfy their holiday desires."
Activities include lounging in the giant hot tub on the cliffside deck, guided boat trips to Princess Louisa Inlet, fun on the water trampoline, salmon fishing, hiking, kayaking or canoeing… the list goes on and on, and it's a big reason why families come back year after year.
The Resort is very accessible (less than 2 hours from Vancouver), offers exceptional value for the price in comparison to similar accommodations in other areas of BC, and is known for tranquility, beautiful scenery, and the kind of quiet that city-dwellers crave. Perfect for exploring the treasures of the Harbour!
