Accomm. Standards
Accommodation standards are important to guests considering a stay on the Sunshine Coast. The main accrediting bodies serving the Sunshine Coast of BC are:
- Sunshine Coast Bed & Breakfast, Cottage Owners Association (SCBBCOA)
- Tourism BC Approved
- Canada Select
Look for these standards when you are researching your stay on the Sunshine Coast. These standards indicate a rigorous on-site approval process and the guidelines followed are available through the organizations above.
Complaints about Sunshine Coast accommodation are extremely rare. Accommodation providers may not have a standard accreditation but this does not mean they are sub-standard. Accreditation is not required by any of the government districts in which Sunshine Coast businesses operate.
If you need to file a complaint against a Sunshine Coast accommodation provider we recommend you do the following:
- File first with any and all accrediting bodies. Include all of the information – date stayed, name room(s) booked under, nature of dispute.
- If the business does not have an accreditation, contact Sunshine Coast Tourism at http://www.sunshinecoastcanada.com with the same details.
- cc webmaster at bigpacific.com on all correspondence
Please attempt to resolve issues with an intermediary before posting any negative reviews or comments online. Starting out on the right foot has the best ultimate result for all concerned, and your intermediary is best able to help when everyone is focused on a resolution rather than a battle.
And of course, if you’ve got kudos to share about a great stay on the Coast, be sure to share that too. We profile businesses that receive stellar comments from visitors!
