BC Bike Race Sunshine Coast: The Pod People Return

Welcome BC Bike Racers & Support Crews!

Gotta love the BC Bike Race crowd – besides having the tent city taking up all of the old Sechelt Elementary School sports field, the ‘Pod People’ as I refer to them – a great sense of humor, big spirit of adventure and a race that sells out in only a week or two. One of BC’s most successful outdoor events and our turn to host is today and tomorrow, for stages 4 & 5.

I chatted with a fellow who had just arrived at the finish, and his two thumbs up were summarized as “totally fun” though unlike the rest of us, most cyclists would prefer a bit more cloud cover!

Riders often claim the Powell River to Langdale stages are ‘the best mountain bike trails in the world’ and I was able to relay the message from a previous year’s interviewee who claimed the downhill into Langdale is a serious thrill, though packing a huge uphill section. In this case, first you pay the bills, THEN you party!
