Here’s what you need to know about Canada Day on the Sunshine Coast!

SECHELT CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS:

  • 8-11 am: Lions Club Pancake Breakfast Gilligan’s Pub Parking Lot
  • 9:30 – 10:30 Bicycle Decorating Contest
  • 10:30 Decorated Bikes Parade begins
  • 10:40 Canada Day Mile Run begins
  • 10:50 Coasters Car Club begins
  • 11:00 Parade begins, route below:

Afternoon & Evening events:

  • Children’s Activities and Entertainment in Hackett Park
  • Craft Fair, Entertainment and Activities on Trail Avenue between Mermaid and beach waterfront
  • Coasters Car Club Show n’ Shine on Trail Ave between Medusa & Mermaid 11:15 – 5:00
  • Family Fun evening and Beer Garden with food, live entertainment and children’s activities at Hackett Park Tennis Courts

GIBSONS CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS:

Winegarden Waterfront Park, hosted by the Town of Gibsons

  • 11am – 4:00pm Rotary BBQ
  • 12-12:40pm: Bonar Harris
  • 12:50-1:30 Brent Wildman
  • 1:30-1:45 Tai Chi Demo
  • 1:45 – 2:30 Bad to the Bow
  • 2:30 – 3pm Opening Ceremonies with Legion Colour Guard and Legion Band
  • O Canada by Chelsea Rubin, with Mayor Rowe and Special Guests
  • 3:30 – 4:00pm Klimbatze, up and coming band from Gibsons
  • 4:15 – 5:00pm Joe Stanton and Simon Paradis

For the kids:

  • 12:00 – 5:00 Giant Bouncy Castle and Slide
  • 1:00 – 3:30 Lippy the Clown/Balloons
  • 1:00 – 3:30 Origami Making for the Children with Myiuki
  • 1:00 – 3:00 Gibsons Paddle Club will be offering a paddle tour around the harbour

 

POWELL RIVER CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS:

  • 11:00 – 3:00 Visitor Info Centre Celebrations 4760 Joyce Avenue Powell River
  • 6:00 – 10:00 pm Canada Day at Willingdon Beach: picnic supper in the park, food vendors open at 5pm. Theme is “Canadians have heart – Come catch the beat!” Be a part of Powell River’s first ‘flash mob’ activity, and be sure to wear red. Lighting of the Giant West Coast Bonfire, birthday cake and entertainment.

OTHER CANADA DAY EVENTS:

  • 1:00-1:30pm Hackett Park, 2:30 – 3:00 pm Pebble Beach, Sechelt Driftwood Players Story Theatre – Family Theatre
