Here they come, 10 of the most action-packed days on the Sunshine Coast – right up to Powell River – with festivals and events ranging from agriculture to vehicles and everything in between. If you can’t find something to do over the next two weeks, please head to the nearest hospital for a pulse check.
NOTE: These two weekends are big ones for traveling to the Coast so please do ensure you have a great visit by reserving your passage on BC Ferries.

FESTIVAL OF THE ROLLING ARTS
SLEEPY HOLLOW ROD RUN (13th Annual)
Aug 10-11-12 – gathering and showcase of more than 500 vintage vehicles including the 13th Annual Sleepy Hollow Rod Run on Friday evening Hackett Park/Halfmoon Bay. Folks set up their lawn chairs, parties, and floor shows all along Hwy. 101 and Redrooffs to watch the parade of cars swing by. Show ‘n’ Shine in downtown Sechelt on Saturday from 9am-5pm. 5th ANNUAL SUNSHINE COAST BIOBLITZ

The bioblitz highlights the biodiversity of the Sunshine Coast. This family friendly event is part contest, part festival, part educational event, and part scientific enterprise. Bringing together scientists, naturalists and community members to count as many species from as many different taxonomic groups as possible during the 24 hour count of life from noon on Saturday to noon on Sunday. Aug 16-19. Eighth annual Chamber Music Festival features world-renowned musicians in the intimate setting of Madeira Park’s School of Music. The opening concert is Thursday, Aug. 16 at 7:30, with a free concert Friday afternoon at 2:00, and concerts Aug. 17 in the evening, Aug. 18 in the afternoon and evening, and Aug. 19 in the afternoon.

25TH ANNUAL HACKETT PARK SUMMER ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR

One of the largest juried art and craft fairs in BC. Lots of shade down in the treed area of the park, food vendors, musicians, and things for the kids to do while you take in all the artistry.

ARTS ALIVE IN THE PARK POWELL RIVER
Willingdon Beach
A two days of summer fun that ends the Blackberry Festival. Established and emerging local artists display their work and present it for sale. There is also dance, music, a poetry slam and workshops for both kids and adults.

ASTRONOMY IN THE PARK & STORY THEATRE
Porpoise Bay Provincial Park – FREE
Free telescope viewing of the Sun through special solar telescopes during the day and view the planets, galaxies and nebula through astronomical telescopes at night. Lots of fun and events for the whole family all day and an astronomical presentation at the amphitheater in the evening.
At 3pm, Story Theatre is once again bringing family entertainment to the festivals of the Sunshine Coast! Join us at Astronomy in the Park and share in our summer fairytales. All ages welcome!
