Jazz Up: June 12 – 14, Gibsons Jazz Festival

By on June 4, 2009 in Uncategorized

Jazzz…oh yaa

It’s that time of year again. Time to lay back and enjoy some of the finest that our incredibly talented and connected Jazz Society will be laying out for us in restaurants and other local venues during Jazz Week, and right through to Sunday afternoon of the 14th Annual Gibsons Landing Jazz Festival, taking place in Dougall Park, June 12 – 14th.

When you think of jazz, names like Davis, Coltrane, Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday might spring to mind, but by the end of Jazz Fest Week and Festival Weekend, you’ll be talking Occhipinti, the Sicilian Jazz Project, Amanda Tosoff Quartet, Ta Ki Ta, Carnival Band, and Rakish Angles – this year’s great Saturday line-up at Dougall Park. Rain or shine we’re ready with a craft fair, art installations and yummy food.

And as if that’s not enough, Sibel Thrasher will play at the Heritage Playhouse, there will be boogying to Hey Ocean at Roberts Creek Hall, and ‘beautifuldancing to The Creek Big Band at Harmony Hall. On Sunday, brunch to Trudi Diening and Sacha Fassaert and finally, the free Sunday Festival in Winegarden Park includes Definitely Diva, Coast Jazz Quintet and the Elphinstone Jazz Band.

Wow. What a week it’s going to be. Can’t wait for more info? Visit www.coastjazz.com
