Sunshine TV Mountain Bike Film Competition is on!

Are you under 18, a mountain biking fan, and a filmmaker? Sunshine Coast TV, our local mobile screen-based advertising company, and the Sunshine Coast Credit Union invite you to enter the first annual Mountain Bike Film Competition!

Create a 30-40 second video showcasing Sunshine Coast Mountain Biking and you could win $1000 worth of mountain bike gear.

Judging to select the top 3 films will be done by Bjorn Enga, internationally recognized extreme freeride cinematographer. Then the top 3 films move over to Facebook for crowd-sourced voting.

Completed videos must be uploaded to a file-sharing site like YouTube or Vimeo.

Bjorn will be looking for best: creativity, cinematography, riding, story/message and production values. No professional filmmakers can assist in the making of the videos, and all footage must be original & owned by the entrant. The contest is open to Sunshine Coast residents only. Full entry requirements & submission details can be found on SunshineTVNetwork.com.

    An idiot in the woods

There’s something magical about getting lost in the woods. In an era of gps, constant cell access, and reductive subdivision mentality in Canadian civic planning, it’s getting increasingly harder to even get lost close to home. Carless for a day, I decided to walk home and tried a new trail I hadn’t even noticed on [...]

    Goodbye 2011

What a fantastic image to keep in my mind as we head into 2012 on the Sunshine Coast. This image was taken on the powerline trail that links up with Hidden Grove Park and the Sechelt Heritage Forest in Sandy Hook, on the afternoon of December 31, 2011. May our beloved Sunshine Coast retain its [...]

Dakota Ridge Road Mayhem… Maybe not?

Dakota Ridge, December 30, 2010 Ah, yes, Dakota Ridge Winter Recreation Area official opens today, Saturday December 17th. Y’all who grew up driving the hurl-inducing highway to that place off in the middle of nowhere called ‘Whistler’ or clawing your way up Mount Seymour 30 years ago in a woody station wagon know of what [...]

    Pit Stop Sechelt

Check out the photo below. This is a pretty freaky PutTogether of ‘North America’s Largest Open Pit Sand & Gravel Mine’. Y’know how I know that? Cause pop was prez of Lehigh/Heidleberg Cement Group, which owns ‘the Pit’ as it is affectionately referred to (not). As an ‘Irvine Girl’ I grew up knowing that when [...]

    Leaving Like a Local

Every ferry departure out of Langdale you’ll notice them: locals charging the gates right at cut-off time to make it into the next boat loading, pushing it, pushing it, pushing it. Visitors must think we’re idiots. Well, it’s because we ARE. After 25 years of living on the Sunshine Coast, and leaving it – medical [...]

WHAT WAS THAT??  Mr. CougieWoogieMuttonchop is alarmed out of his pose by a crackle in the brush. You too can enjoy this unnerving experience by walking in the closed area of Porpoise Bay Provincial Park when no one else is there. Creepy, but in a good way. Tweet
