The District of Sechelt covers approximately 4,008 hectares of land, extending from but not including the communities of Halfmoon Bay and Roberts Creek. The District provides funding for policing services, tourism information, library services, recreational and cultural activities. Primary District services include public works, planning, parks, engineering, sewer treatment, financial administration and tax collection.
Population (1999): 8,120 (District of Sechelt – Planning Dept. estimate)
Structure: Mayor and six Councillor’s elected for 3-year terms.
Neighbourhoods: Downtown/Village, Davis Bay/Wilson Creek, West Sechelt, East Porpoise Bay, Sandy Hook, Tuwanek, and West Porpoise Bay.
Council Meetings: The first and third Wednesday of each month.
