PLAY ON THE SUNSHINE COAST
Whether you are visiting the Coast, or you're a plugged-in Local, here's a guide for finding activities, clubs and organizations on the Sunshine Coast - recreation, classes, and just the weird & wonderful.
GUIDED TOURS
Marine sightseeing, mountain biking, horseback riding, gallery tours... for locals and visitors.
DINING & FOOD
An overview of restaurants, cafes and places to buy food on the Sunshine Coast.
SHOPPING
Three shopping centres, five shopping districts, and a mix of unique specialty boutiques and national chain brands.
GEAR RENTALS & SALES
If you're heading outside and need gear or want to try out the newest season's models, here's the info you need.
KAYAKING/PADDLING
The Sunshine Coast is one of the best kayaking regions in BC, with very accessible waterfront, a range of paddling conditions, and protection inside Sechelt Inlet. Paddleboarding is also taking off.
MOUNTAIN BIKING
It's been said that the Sunshine Coast is loaded with mountain bike trails, many 'expert' level (days 3-5 of the BC Bike Race are on the Sunshine Coast) and plenty of beginner trails in beautiful coastal forests.
SKOOKUMCHUCK
The Skookumchuck Narrows Provincial Park is a destination that everyone gets to at least once, whether you're visiting or a 'local'. Summer is great for watching experienced whitewater kayakers playing.
BOATING
There are still places to rent an outboard boat on the Coast for a day of sightseeing or fishing, and kayak rentals, paddleboards, and sailboats are all great ways to interact with the marine environment.
CLASSES
I'll do my best to keep an updated calendar of classes of all kinds happening on the Sunshine Coast here. Be sure to send me any you would like to have added!
ARTS & GALLERIES
There are over 250 artists on the Sunshine Coast and over 110 studios and galleries. We also have a growing Art Crawl that happens every fall from Langdale to Lund.
SPA/MASSAGE
Yes! Time for a spa treatment or a therapeutic massage, and there's plenty of places to go for one on both ends of the Coast. Some spas are a part of an accommodation, and many are standalone.
FIRST NATIONS
The First Nations of the Sunshine Coast - the Shishalh, and the Sliammon, as well as the Squamish - offer guided cultural tours, and have publicly accessible totem poles for you to visit.
FOR KIDS
The Sunshine Coast is a bit of a different animal for kids. Beaches and tide pools, playgrounds, pools, rinks, bike parks, theatres, Dakota Ridge... a great counterpoint to the Malls in the city!
FOUR LEGGED FRIENDS
Off-leash parks, hiking trails, beaches, kennels and pet-sitters, and where to buy pet food and accessories. Remember - please carry bags if you have a dog with you, and keep our Coast beautiful and relaxed about dogs!
GEOCACHING
The Sunshine Coast has hundreds of geocaches, some in easily accessible areas, and some you really have to work for. Bring your pencil, your GPS and some small knicknacks or off-continent coins to exchange at some of the caches.
