GIven that our region's name is the 'Sunshine Coast', it follows that Sunshine Coast waterfront accommodations are plentiful and vary from standalone cottage rentals and vacation homes, to in-building suites, hotels and resorts, even waterfront campgrounds and boat-only access accommodation.

In Gibsons, waterfront accommodation is centred around Gibsons Harbour and The Bluff, the big promontory of land directly across from Gibsons Landing. However, there are great waterfront rental options in Hopkins and Grantham Landings just off the lower road access to the Landing.

Roberts Creek waterfront is known for level access beaches, which are rocky on high tides and often sandy on low tides. There are less amenities in Roberts Creek, but the basics are there: groceries, cafe & restaurant, organics, music - so much music! - along with quiet and a funky atmosphere. People love Roberts Creek waterfront accommodations for the truly small-town feel, community spirit, and quieter roads.

Sechelt is the hub of the Coast, and Sechelt waterfront accommodations include a beach-facing hotel in Davis Bay and a number of B&Bs to downtown waterfront motel and private rental accommodations along the Trail Bay ocean front, right through to cliff and beach hugging cabin, cottage and small inn lodgings in Sandy Hook, Tuwanek and West Porpoise Bay on Sechelt Inlet.

Halfmoon Bay is a family-friendly area with two waterfront parks and a mix of B&Bs and cottage rentals. A network of trails across the back of Halfmoon Bay access the waterfront and the highway is far off from the ocean bluffs. Welcome Woods is a popular stretch for cottages, with others located close to Sargeant Bay. Secret Cove is just outside of this area and is home to a resort dating back 30+ years (under several corporate owners). Halfmoon Bay waterfront accommodations are popular for access to Welcome Beach and Coopers Green swimming and recreation areas, and off-the-highway privacy.

Pender Harbour waterfront lodgings are all about the water, and is actually home to a number of recognizable communities: Francis Peninsula, Madeira Park, Garden Bay, Oyster & Gunboat Bays, and Mount Daniel. This area is home to Painted Boat Resort, Sunshine Coast Resort, and Pender Harbour Resort. All waterfront, all the time!

The Egmont/Ruby Lake areas have waterfront accommodations ranging from cottages and motel units on the the edge of a waterfowl sanctuary to a cliffside wilderness lodge overlooking the entrance to the Skookumchuck Rapids.

Powell River, Lund and Texada Island are all home to waterfront accommodations and are accessible both from the south via the lower Sunshine Coast, and via the Comox-Powell River ferry from Vancouver Island.
