Internet Accessibility and Services

The Sunshine Coast offers a range of Internet accessiblity options for both commercial and residential users.

• HIGH SPEED: Cable through Coast Cable Communications (885-3224) and ISDN through Telus (see the utilities section). All-the-time Internet connection, static IPs available for security purposes through Coast Cable, but you can not host a server through your cable connection.
• ANALOG PHONE LINE: Regular Dial-Up through Uniserve (1-877-UNISERVE). If you don't mind paying long distance charges to Powell River, Armourtech offers an alternative, and they are planning to come to the Lower Coast sometime this year (call them up and let them know you're interested!). Packaged pricing based on hourly usage, or flat fee all-you-can-surf rates.

Training

Bad Dog Design, parent company to Bigpacific.com, offers individualized or small group training sessions to upgrade or learn Internet skills, including:

• Using search engines effectively to find information on the Web
• How to optimize your web site for the search engines & how engines rank your site
• Search engine strategies for web site owners
• Basic email, with either Eudora or MS Outlook
• Internet Etiquette
• Maintaining your own web site (requires purchase of Dreamweaver software)
